THE ROCKVILLE REAL ESTATE EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CRITERIA
Must currently be enrolled as a high school or college/university student within the United States.
There are no GPA requirements to receive the award.
Students must be a citizen of, permanent resident of, or hold a valid student visa in the United States.
The essay or video must be the applicant’s original work.
All submissions must be turned in no later than December 31st, 2020, 11:59 pm EST.
Scholarship winners will be contacted via email and must respond within five (5) days of the date of the email to accept the award.
If no response is received within this time, another recipient may be selected.
The winning entry will be judged on the creativity, sincerity, impact, and genuineness of the response.
Some of the questions that will guide the judge(s) selection are the following:
Did the applicant clearly demonstrate how living in Rockville has helped him/her become a better person?
Did the applicant mention specific neighborhoods, landmarks, and/or experiences that are clearly specific to living in Rockville?
Was the applicant creative, thoughtful, and original in his/her answer to the question?
Did the applicant clearly identify how he/she was going to “pay it forward” into the future?
The applicant with the winning entry will receive a one-time scholarship of $500, which may be applied to the follow school-related expenses: tuition, fees, books, and/or on-campus room and board.
The scholarship winner will be contacted via email and/or phone at the email address/phone number provided and must respond within five (5) days to receive the award.
If the winner does not respond within the time frame, the award may be presented to another applicant.
Scholarship funds are provided by the Rockville Real Estate Exchange and will be paid via mail, bank transfer, or in-person to the winning applicant.
SUBMISSION OF MATERIALS
All entries must be entered by emailing [email protected].
Entries may be either essays or videos.
One entry per student.
All essays must be written in English – proper grammar, composition, punctuation, and grammar must be observed.
Written submissions should be no longer than 1,000 words and must be sent in either a Microsoft Word or PDF format.
All videos must be composed in English – quality of submission will be a factor in judging.
Video submissions should be no longer than three minutes and must be provided in an MP4 format.
Personal information submitted will be used solely for the purpose of awarding the scholarship and to announce the winner of the Rockville Real Estate Exchange social media platforms and/or website, as well as local press.
The Rockville Real Estate Exchange reserves the right to publish content from the submitted essays and videos on its website and media platforms, regardless of whether or not entry has been judged to be the winner.
Contest is open to high school and undergraduate students who are currently living in Rockville – or have lived in Rockville for at least one full year of their lives.
“Living in Rockville” is defined as residing at a location with a Rockville mailing address.
(If necessary, eligibility of a resident will be determined by looking at the city listed on the property’s tax record).
Winning applications are subject to verification of address and student status.
